Hook-Up Wire Spool Vase

Hook-Up Wire Spool Vase

thingiverse

I've been looking for a neater way to store my electronics hookup wire, as I buy it in short lengths and it easily gets tangled because it doesn't come on a spool. I've started experimenting with making objects that can be printed entirely in vase mode. This is my first serious attempt at something useful and was inspired by the Paracord Vase Spool design found on Thingiverse. If you're interested, the design file for this project is available on Onshape. I used PETG filament to print it because I find it tends to ooze and doesn't retract well. To minimize retraction, I've designed this object with the least amount of retraction possible. Vase mode requires no retraction at all, resulting in a much improved finish quality. I printed this object using vase/spiral mode for an extrusion width of 0.48mm. The PETG filament provides strength and flexibility to the final product.
