Hook and Hanger System Update: January 16, 2018 - Added a Two-Piece Hook Design That Doesn't Require Support Structures When Printing. This is a simple yet versatile system of hooks and rod hangers for the kitchen or workshop. It's based on a one-inch (25mm) wooden dowel rod that can be purchased from the hardware store or replaced with something like a three-quarter inch PVC pipe. If you print the parts from Hatchbox wood-filled PLA filament, you can stain them to match your woodwork. There are four different styles of hangers: small, large, with, and without a slotted opening. The version with a slotted opening allows for easy addition or removal of hooks after installation. There are also four different styles of hooks: large, small, parallel, and perpendicular to the dowel rod. These hooks are captured on the dowel rod, preventing them from falling off, while still allowing for smooth sliding as needed. You can easily design your own hooks and share them here! You can also choose not to use the hooks and repurpose the parts into towel racks. PRINTING INSTRUCTIONS: The rod hangers can be printed without support structures. The STL files are oriented in the correct direction for this purpose. Some of the hooks will require support, but you can also try using the two-piece version that doesn't need it. For added strength, ensure that the large side of the hook is parallel to the build plate. This orientation has been applied to the STL files. Layer thickness and infill percentage are up to your preference. I used 0.2mm for my parts and 30% infill, but you can adjust these settings as needed.
