I designed an alternative component for the Ford Escape's hood clip. I installed it, and now we'll see how long it lasts. The part fit seamlessly into its designated slot, with the rod snapping firmly into place. After searching online, I discovered a replacement clip for around $3.95, but the $12 shipping fee made me hesitant to purchase it. Given my ownership of two 3D printers, I decided to attempt making the part myself. Even if this DIY solution fails within a month or two, I can reprint and replace it up to 500 times using the same design for just $16. Alternatively, I could switch to a stronger material to create an even more durable component. In this instance, I utilized Hatchbox ABS filament.
