Hood Latches
grabcad
The following files showcase two types of rubber hood latches frequently encountered on American semi trucks, construction equipment, and battery boxes in various compartments. One model features a bumper, while the other does not. The sans bumper design is more prevalent in my region. These models were created using Autodesk Inventor 2020. Two spheres are integrated into each model as surfaces, but they are turned off to prevent visual clutter. These spheres are positioned on the rubber latch sphere and the ball receptacle, serving as crucial joints/constraints. Whether these spheres successfully exported to the STEP files remains unclear. The distance from the hinge pin to the center of the ball is precisely 6 inches. Recently, I experienced a breakthrough in simplifying the ball-bracket design; accordingly, I have included this updated model within the folder.
