I kickstarted the project by snagging a zero-cost 3D model from an online platform, then spent hours meticulously reworking and refining its anatomy to bring it to life. Next, I broke down the complex geometry into manageable slices that could be easily printed using FDM technology. To give the wings their signature shape, I painstakingly recreated them by hand in Sketchup, painstakingly tracing every curve from a reference photo. The ultimate goal was to print an entire hive, and with each passing hour, the vision became increasingly tangible.
