Honey Bee - Frame Spacer

Honey Bee - Frame Spacer

thingiverse

Most bee hives have both brood and super boxes with frames hanging in each. Typically, the supers use Castellated Spacers to provide correct spacing between frames, ensuring bees have room to move around combs and work on them. The issue found is that most brood frames don't use the same castellated spacers. Even using Hoffman self-spacing frames, frames are not evenly spaced out, leading to uneven space between brood and super frames, causing tight gaps for bees to move around. To solve this problem and make life better for bees, a decision was made to sketch up frame spacers that can be used on both Brood and Super frames to provide even spacing. These can also be bought already, but why buy when you can print? These can be printed using any color PLA, making it easy to identify which frames come from certain hives or apiaries, preventing mixing of frames across hives and risking contamination. When placed on frames, these spacers provide a 16.75mm space between frames, identical to the space provided by Castellated Spacers. They also have a snug fit, preventing them from slipping off during inspections, but can be easily tapped onto the end of frames using a small pin hammer. Because these spacers have no structural value, they were printed with just 20% infill to reduce cost, but feel free to change the infill to suit your needs. No obligation, but if you like this or any other things, feel free to make a small donation. Bitcoin: 3N7UZ14J6ZyVSCABbHfx8oxmwVNNRNfDAn Ethereum: 0x283251fc60425429fDF8C9F65C6e9a9F01bbA1B5
