Honda Rear Shock Preload Adjustment Wrench
thingiverse
I've been itching to tweak my VTX1800's rear shocks for quite some time, so when I had the bags off this weekend, I finally got around to doing it. Instead of waiting for a $20 wrench to arrive from Amazon, I decided to take matters into my own hands and made one myself. I measured the shock diameter at roughly 68mm with a margin of error of about 15mm - not too critical, if you ask me. Then, I checked a 5mm bolt that just happened to be lying around to see if it would fit the pin holes. The photos attached show the finished product and the shock I was adjusting, and I'm happy to report that it worked like a dream. Don't forget to unload the weight from the rear tire - I simply pushed on the sissybar a bit while lifting the bike on the kickstand, and the shock slipped right up to the next preload setting with ease.
