The Honda P50 (marketed as the P25 in various areas) debuted in June 1966. It represented the final motor-wheel moped design by Honda (and likely all large manufacturers). The P50 boasts a step-through frame fabricated from steel pressings, featuring leading-link front suspension and plastic fenders with chainguard protection. The fuel tank is situated above the rear fender. Notably, its drivetrain components are housed within the massive hub of the rear wheel. A key distinguishing feature is the 49 cc (3.0 cu in) engine located at the lower left rear of the frame. This arrangement encompasses all of the driveline components inside a large rear wheel housing. The engine itself operates on a 4-stroke system, differing from almost every other pedal-equipped moped that utilized simpler 2-strokes. Soichiro Honda found 2-strokes produced an annoying noise and opted for the quieter alternative that does not require oil to be mixed with each gasoline fill-up.
