Honda Key Fob
thingiverse
I was in need of a key housing for my trusty 2005 Honda Pilot - 3 button remote. I must extend my gratitude to Cleven for crafting the original design, which saved me a considerable amount of time and effort. Fortunately, I didn't require a hole for attaching the key ring, but I did encounter issues with the snap clasp. On my maiden voyage to the grocery store, I unfortunately managed to break the cover. To prevent this from happening again, I decided to reinforce the closure by substituting an M3 hex bolt for the plastic snap. Additionally, I thickened the cover to provide extra durability. Since many builders on this site likely have a stash of M3's lying around, I incorporated them into my design. I also added posts to two overhangs on the back cover, eliminating the need for support material during printing. Simply clip off any excess after printing is complete. To accommodate my remote circuit and sensor chip, I expanded the interior cavity. If you're unfamiliar with this process, be aware that Honda installs a theft prevention sensor chip within their keys. If your case breaks and you didn't retrieve the sensor chip during extraction, don't discard it - you'll need it to prevent the engine from turning over without starting. The sensor chip should be placed alongside the remote circuit in the key case. The provided picture is pre-finished, so feel free to start using it immediately. After two days of driving with kids in tow, I'm pleased to report that neither the key nor I experienced any cracking or breaking issues. If it eventually breaks down, I may consider adding an interior pocket for the sensor chip to prevent rattling.
