A coworker recently expressed a desire to incorporate a toggle switch into his fog lights without compromising the stock unit, so I borrowed the original and created a custom replacement using Fusion 360. For optimal performance in automotive applications, it's recommended to print this design with PET-G or ABS filament. PLA is not suitable due to its low melting point, which would cause it to deform under normal operating conditions. While PET-G may exhibit some flexibility over time, it will hold up significantly better than other materials. However, it's essential to note that this design has yet to be thoroughly tested and will require evaluation in the near future. To achieve the best possible results, use a high layer height for the initial layer as it will be the only visible surface once installed. Thicker layers also enable PET-G to bond more effectively. Additionally, supports are necessary for the flexible arms to prevent them from sagging during printing. The recommended print orientation is face down, with the STL file rotated 90 degrees to position the large flat side downwards.
