UPDATE: VERSION 2.1--- The first version had a major flaw, which has now been rectified by redesigning the USB plug holder to use three M4x4 and one M5x5 grub screws to ensure a secure fit when removing cables. No threads are needed on this design, as the grub screws can tap out a thread easily enough when tightened. This approach simplifies the manufacturing process while maintaining durability. It's worth noting that printing with PLA is not recommended due to its lack of heat resistance. In my case, I used Pruament PC, which boasts a glass transition temperature significantly higher than any UK summer weather. However, even this material requires sanding to achieve a smooth finish. Start with 600-grit paper and gradually work your way up to 2400. I successfully installed a Grom BT3 in the stock Bose headunit of my '93 NSX. The upgrade includes a cable that connects a mic for hands-free calling and a USB port for external input or charging. To achieve a factory look, replace the central switch plate's blank switch with this custom design. Mount the Grom unit behind the stereo, just to the side of the glovebox, and route the cables through the tunnel into the switch. Disassembling the entire center console is required, but numerous online guides can assist with this process. When installing the USB plug holder, exercise caution and patience to ensure a tight fit. A small bracing piece can be snapped onto the rear for added strength and to prevent the plug from ever moving. For optimal results, sand the print with 2500-grit paper or higher to achieve an OEM-like finish. Since I'm in the UK, PLA sufficed due to our relatively mild climate. However, if you reside in a hotter region, consider using a material with a higher melt point.
