Human: Homo sapiens Location: Darling Downs, Queensland, Australia. Age: 11,000 to 9,000 years B.P. Material: plaster cast. Dimensions: length, 227 mm; width, 134 mm; height, 140 mm. Notes: RLA catalog no. 433rp5 (cast). The Talgai Skull, a nearly complete cranium, was found in 1886 by fencing contractor William Naish on the Talgai Homestead. Stewart Arthur Smith reported it in 1918. Between 1930 and 1952, Mr. F. O. Barlow of R. F. Damon & Co., London made a cast. It is part of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's Research Laboratories of Archaeology teaching collection. The model was created by Steve Davis.
