Human: Homo sapiens Location: Predmosti, Moravia, Czech Republic. Age: 26,000 years B.P. Material: plaster cast. Dimensions: length, 226 mm; width, 151 mm; height, 155 mm. Notes: The research catalog number is RLA 1979rp47 (cast). Skeletal remains were excavated between 1884 and 1930, but unfortunately destroyed by fire during World War II. A nearly complete cranium was discovered. The University Museum of the University of Pennsylvania created a precise plaster cast. This valuable artifact is part of the teaching collection of the Research Laboratories of Archaeology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Modeling expert Steve Davis designed this replica.
