Human: A remarkably preserved mandible from a Homo sapiens fossil found in the Hotu Cave, Iran, dating back to around 9,900 to 7,200 years ago. Location: The fossil was unearthed between 1949 and 1957 in the same cave. Age: Estimated to be approximately 9,900 to 7,200 years old. Material: A plaster cast replica of the original fossil. Dimensions: Measuring 92 mm in length, 116 mm in width, and 72 mm in height. Notes: This remarkable find is cataloged as RLA no. 1979rp28, with a cast created by the University Museum of the University of Pennsylvania, and now part of the teaching collection at the Research Laboratories of Archaeology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
