Human: A prime specimen of Homo heidelbergensis Location: Steinheim an der Murr, near Stuttgart, Germany. Age: Dating back to a period between 350,000 and 250,000 years before present. Material: Crafted from plaster cast. Dimensions: Measuring 197 mm in length, 129 mm in width, and 131 mm in height. Notes: The RLA catalog number is 1979rp45 (cast). Discovered as an isolated find in a gravel quarry near Steinheim, Germany, in 1933. Excavated by Fritz Berckhemer and Max Bock. Initially classified as Homo steinheimensis. A plaster cast created by the University Museum of the University of Pennsylvania. Housed in the teaching collection of the Research Laboratories of Archaeology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Modeled by Jordyn Gray.
