This species shared common ancestry with modern humans, grouping alongside Homo sapiens as a kindred species. Equipped with a large brain, it constructed elaborate shelters and hearths to sustain its daily life. Its existence spanned approximately 500,000 years, coming to an end around 200,000 years ago. Initially discovered in 1908, this ancient human form was painstakingly recreated from a public exhibit at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History, situated in Washington, DC.
