Homo ergaster emerges from the ancient landscape of Nariokotome III in West Turkana, Kenya, a region steeped in history and mystery dating back to 1.6 million years ago. This fossilized specimen is cast in epoxy resin, a testament to the ingenuity of modern technology that brings the past to life. Measuring 204 mm in length, 133 mm in width, and 124 mm in height, this remarkable find is a treasure trove of information for scientists and researchers alike. The RLA catalog number, 2501.1rp31 (cast), serves as a unique identifier for this extraordinary specimen. The discovery of Homo ergaster was a significant milestone in the field of paleoanthropology, achieved through the tireless efforts of K. Kimeu in 1984. Alan Walker and Richard Leakey's subsequent recoveries in 1984 and 1985 only added to the fascination surrounding this ancient relic. As one of the earliest specimens of Homo erectus, the cranium from this 80% complete skeleton offers a glimpse into the evolution of humanity. Estimated to be around 12 years old, or possibly younger, this enigmatic figure is known affectionately as "Turkana Boy." The meticulous craftsmanship of Bone Clones, Inc., coupled with the artistic vision of Aidan Paul, has brought this ancient being to life in exquisite detail. Today, the Turkana Boy stands proudly in the teaching collection of the Research Laboratories of Archaeology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a testament to the enduring power of discovery and the boundless wonders that lie hidden within our planet's rich history.
