Homo erectus Location: Trinil Hill in Java, Indonesia. Age: Approximately 0.7-1.6 million years old. Material: A plaster cast replica. Notes: RLA catalog number 433rp2, featuring a reconstructed cranium and mandible. Initially identified from a skull cap unearthed by Eugene Dubois in 1891. Also known as Trinil 2, Pithecanthropus I, or Java Man. The cast was created between 1930 and 1952 by F.O. Barlow of R.F. Damon & Co. in London. Currently part of the teaching collection at the Research Laboratories of Archaeology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
