Homemade Bradley Bisquette Press

Ive had a pellet grill for quite some time and just recently got a Bradley. I thought there has to be a way to take the pellets and make bisquettes for the Bradley for a fraction of the price, this is what i came up with. This recipe yields about 12 bisquettes (doubling should be fine): 1 cup pellets 1 1/2 cups boiling water (for softening pellets) 1 tablespoon cornstarch (as a binding agent) 1 cup of boiling water (for mixing with cornstarch) Place pellets in a suitable mixing bowl and add 1 1/2 cups boiling water, the pellets will absorb the water and soften fairly quickly. Next, in a separate dish mix 1 cup of boiling water with 1 tablespoon cornstarch and mix to form a thick syrup. I used a handheld milk frother which worked well, add this to the softened pellets and mix well. Once throughly mixed place the press spacer in the press base and fill with mixture until flush or slightly above flush for denser bisquettes. Place the lid on top and squeeze to compress, hold over sink or bucket to catch the water. Once compressed twist the two halves to prevent the mixture from sticking to the lid, remove lid. Turn upside down and use a punch, screwdriver or other tool to press the bisquette and spacer from press base onto rack for drying. Slide the spacer off the bisquette and place back in press base to make the next bisquette. I used my dehydrator to speed up the drying process. The final product burns well and produces smoke for the whole 20 minute cycle of the smoker. Note: I noticed that after some use a slight burr would form on the inside edge of the press base causing some hangup during bisquette removal simply sand the inside to remove. Note: This process should work with sawdust as well, although some trial and error might be involved as I did not test with plain sawdust.
