Home Made Lathe
thingiverse
To overcome using a drill press as a lathe for my extruder build, I crafted a design in SolidWorks. It primarily utilizes 1/4" and 3/8" acrylic with three 3/4" HDPE slides. The lathe features 12 X 1/4-20 hex nuts, 36" of 1/4-20 threaded rod, two plastic knobs, and a cordless drill's drive assembly. Absent are the tailstock, live center, and cutting tool plate, which can be fabricated later. Use at your own risk; I have pictures of the completed lathe and my first successful part. It may not be perfect, but it accomplishes the task.
