HOME MADE DESIGNER DISTRIBUTION WITH ATS

To tackle an outrageously high common service electric bill for my apartment complex, I took a bold step - building an Automated Transfer Switch (ATS) box first. However, upon attempting to install it, I was shocked by the complete chaos of the entire electrical distribution system. This revelation prompted me to replace the entire distribution network with a brand-new one. I designed and created a custom-made distribution panel that integrates an ATS for segregating users from the common service utility source. Commonly, energy used by all loads in a unit equipped with a generator backup is categorized as a common service utility bill. By default, this load remains minimized; however, users tend to add more loads onto the generator-backed circuit, resulting in an inflated common service electric bill. Solidworks proved to be an invaluable tool in designing the entire distribution panel in a virtual environment before proceeding with actual fabrication. As a result, every component and piece fell perfectly into place during the construction phase. Materials and components used were sourced from local suppliers; however, they could be substituted with similar alternatives.
