HOME Filter Modular Mask no Supports n95 HEPA MERV
thingiverse
OVERVIEW: I designed a modular mask for makers who need a quick solution. I tried printing several existing designs, but had trouble with supports and was advised by medical professionals to take a more careful approach. This is not scientifically tested or approved, but it's a last resort. PROBLEMS / SOLUTIONS There are a few issues I'm trying to solve with this setup: problem (solution) - Exposed filters (added a shield) - Hard to breathe (increased filter area) - Air leaks around the filter (used screw rings for a strong seal pressure) - Insufficient filter material (tried three filter setup) FILTERS I used HEPA and MERV16 filter elements, but be aware that some medical grade HEPA fibers can be hazardous. I added a post-filter made of dense cloth, possibly cotton or bamboo. The mask should have several filters in this order: - 3D printed cap - Rough dust filter - 3D printed ring spacer - Home filter - 3D printed ring spacer - Thick cloth to catch particles from the home filter SEALING AROUND THE MASK: This seal setup is nice: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4256265 COMING IMPROVEMENTS - Flexible printed seal - Better moisture protection for the intake - Desiccant holder in the breath guard
