As you know, buying cheap items means sacrificing quality and durability...\r\n\r\nI recently purchased a standard kitchen trash can, but its release button gave out after just a few weeks.\r\nTo avoid wasting money on another one, I decided to come up with a solution by designing a replacement button with some improvements.\r\n\r\nThe new release button utilizes two repurposed magnets as "springs" for added leverage.\r\nThese magnets were salvaged from my home's existing cupboard magnets.\r\nTo complete the project, I needed a steel rod measuring 5mm in diameter and 100mm in length.\r\nI secured the new button in place using hot glue.\r\n\r\nThis trash can features a release button approximately 100mm long (some models may have shorter buttons, so be sure to modify the design accordingly).\r\n\r\nI hope you find this DIY project inspiring!
