My brother got a crazy idea one day to try to build a kayak out of plywood, so I told him I'd help him design it. After several different (some more unconventional) designs we decided on the attached design. The basic idea is to wire tie all the wood pieces together and cover the whole thing in several layers of fiberglass fabric and resin. Once the whole thing is set up and rigid you can go back and remove some ribs to make room to sit.
