Home Assistant Yellow Upper Case with Fan Insert
thingiverse
I found that the stock Home Assistant Yellow case ran very hot, due to a lack of any real ventilation. My CPU would peak around 80C when updating my esphome devices, and would then throttle itself. I prototyped a few passive and active cooling designs, before I settled on this one. The fan module is removable and should snap into place right above the stock heatsink on top of your CM4. I'm pulling 5v power from the GPIO pins on the Yellow board. Before my Yellow was idling around 30C above ambient temperature. Now it idles around 5C-10C above ambient You will need the following items: 5v 50mm x 10mm fan - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004205974469.html 50mm fan dust guard - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32707875719.html M3 Thread Knurled Brass Threaded Heat Set Heat Resistant Insert - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003314830904.html 4x M3 16mm bolts and nuts - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004949292330.html Original case design at https://www.printables.com/model/295651-home-assitant-yellow-enclosure
