Holy Family 3D Print Model As Christmas approaches, Cross Lances sculptors want to offer a special gift dedicated to the holy festivity of the Holy Family, which falls on Sunday between Christmas and New Year's Eve. The term Holy Family refers to Jesus' family, consisting of Jesus himself, Mary, and Joseph. In Christian tradition, this family is revered for their faith and devotion. Cross Lances is based in Florence, Italy, where we are deeply influenced by the Renaissance style that has made our city so renowned. The Renaissance was a pivotal period in European history, bridging the Middle Ages and the modern era from the mid-14th to the 16th century. This era was marked by significant changes, giving rise to new perspectives on the world and human experience. Key ideas such as humanism began to shape art and culture, influencing how people perceived themselves and their place in society. To create our sculptures, we drew inspiration from iconic statues that have stood the test of time in Florence. Two particular statues at the church of Orsanmichele caught our attention: Saint Jacopo and the Holy Mary of the Rose. Saint Jacopo, created by Niccolò di Pietro Lamberti between 1410 and 1422, served as our reference for Saint Joseph. This stunning statue is part of a group of fourteen protectors of Florence's art, situated in Orsanmichele's external niche. Originally made from Apuan marble, it stands at an impressive 213 cm tall. Today, the original Saint Jacopo is housed in Orsanmichele's museum, replaced by a copy in the church's niche. Similarly, the Holy Mary of the Rose, attributed to Pietro di Giovanni Tedesco and dated 1399, was our inspiration for Mary. This beautiful sculpture, commissioned by Arte dei Medici e Speziali, is also part of the group of protectors at Orsanmichele's external niches. Made from marble, it measures 220 cm tall.
