Hololens adjustment strap replacement
thingiverse
Microsoft apparently offers no repair services for the Hololens. The thin adjustment strap can easily break if forced, and there's little that can be done to fix it once it happens. I devised one solution: replacing the broken strap entirely. I cut off the strap near where it meets the body of the halo, leaving 15mm attached for a lap joint. Two holes were marked and drilled in the remaining strap to match the replacement part. I inserted two rivets made from short ABS filament sections. The rivet ends were heated with a lighter and squashed into mushroom shapes. Gorilla Glue was applied, and the parts were clamped together until cured. Afterward, the other end of my ABS rivets was heated and flattened for secure attachment. I lost 15mm of adjustment but managed to get the part working again, allowing me to secure the Hololens to my head. This repair involves disassembling the adjuster with a small star drive bit.
