Holmes Stereoscope

Enjoy your collection of stereoviews with this versatile stereoscope that features interchangeable holders for various sizes of stereocards! Four holders are available, allowing you to accommodate different types of cards. The standard size holder measures 7in (18cm) and can fit most stereocards, including Keystone, Underwood, Ingersoll, and Edinburgh Anatomy sets. It can even handle taller cards. Another option is the 5.75in (15cm) size, specifically designed for Whiting's Sculptoscope views. The 5in (13cm) holder works well with Keystone Junior cards and recent Black Dog & Leventhal books, possibly also accommodating Raumbild views. For Cavanders' "Peeps Into Many Lands" series, use the 1.5" wide image pair holder. This viewer can easily handle the curve of a typical Keystone View! To assemble the viewer, print EyePiece, StereoscopeBar, and one of the card holders. Insert the bar into the eyepiece notch and attach the card holder to the bar. A handle is optional but recommended for easier handling. The BarCatch piece fits into a small hold at the end of the bar, preventing the card holder from sliding off. I printed most parts in PETG, which resulted in a snug fit between pieces. This may cause issues with warped or bumped parts. To fully enjoy the viewer, you'll need lenses. I used 37mm +4 macro lenses, available at most photographic equipment suppliers. For the optional tripod stand, a 1/4-20 lock nut or tee is required; alternatively, glue a standard hex nut to the bottom.
