hollow mask - Hohlmaske
thingiverse
I held a hollow mask in my hand somewhere and was thrilled to see what my brain pretended to see. By chance, I finally came across "Human Head (NURBS)" by grozny, and developed the idea to experiment a little with it. Here is the result! ;-) With openSCAD, it's very easy to build a hollow mask; I've included the matching openSCAD file. On the print bed, the standing mask has the dimensions: 85mm x 127mm x 173mm. The appearance should correspond to a steel mask that's already a little troubled by flash rust. I also succeeded in creating this look, and the poor lighting of the enclosed pictures is a little deceiving because they don't do it justice. Because I like it, I'll develop a slowly rotating stand for it, which will put the mask in the right light. If you want to design the mask in a similar way, here's my procedure: - I printed the mask with white PLA, 15% filling density, 0.12mm layer height, 4 vertical contours, 5 horizontal contours, and an 80mm/s printing speed. With a modifier (PrusaSlicer), I supported the chin. I printed the upper part of the skull with 0.8mm layer height. - After cooling down, I sanded the mask with 100mm sandpaper to smooth it out. - As primer, I used "SURFACE PRIMER - Plate Mail Metal" from Vallejo. - As varnish, I used "MODEL METALLIC Air - GUNMETALL" by Vellajo. - At the end, after the complete drying, the rust comes. For this, I used "Model METALLIC Air - RUST" by Vallejo. The rust is applied in drybrush technique, and only a hint of rust should be visible. On the hollow side of the mask, I applied a little more rust. If you haven't used drybrush technique yet, it's a good idea to watch a video and practice a little. With a successful print, I'd be very happy about a Like!
