Hollow lighted celtic skull base
thingiverse
I used this to build a gift for a friend in combination with the Skull With Pointed Teeth, http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:31998.\nBy modifying the OpenSCAD code, I removed the lamp holder, hollowed out most of the main base, and moved the cord hole slightly. This gave me more space for electronics and wiring for LED's inserted directly into the skull. I placed red 3mm LEDs inside a 10% fill directly behind the eyes which worked really well. I also scattered some slow color changing LED's throughout the rest of the skull; I placed switches for both of those effects in the hollow base.\nUnfortunately, I stupidly forgot to take some pics before delivery. \nI made the enlarged hollow roomy enough for an Arduino Micro, Nano, or Teensy, so I'm planning to use Neopixels for general lighting on my next build, with 5mm RGB LEDs connected to PWM pins for illuminating the eyes.\nPrint Settings\nPrinter:\n XYZ DaVinci 1.0\n \n Rafts:\n No\n \n Supports:\n No\n \n Resolution:\n .200 layer height\n \n Infill:\n 20%\n \n Notes:\n This was a tough print in ABS on a DaVinci 1.0 and keeping from warping was hard for me. I've since switched to a Rostock Max V2 with a PEI bed, so bed adhesion issues are now a thing of the past for me.
