Hollow Calibration Cube
thingiverse
For calibration purposes, I created a simple hollow cube using my Makerbot with 1.5mm thin walls - the minimum thickness I would ever use. If you want to adjust dimensions, refer to the OpenSCAD files. As part of the process, I meticulously changed one Skeinforge parameter at a time and documented each change, along with expected vs actual results, notes, build times, high-res images, and downloadable gcode files for those who wish to view in SkeinView. The calibration logs are available on the Wiki. I also created '2 Hollow Cubes' for optimizing oozebane or extruder controlling in multi-part prints, though I haven't tried it yet. If you're a new user or find the process daunting, document your calibration journey to help others understand your process more easily in case of issues.
