Holed Ice

Holed Ice

thingiverse

Concept tray for producing round ice "cubes" that have a straw-sized hole in the middle. - Cool the liquid as you drink it through a straw - Minimize the contact surface between ice and water, reducing the dilution - Make the ice "hold down" the straw, prevent it from floating up in bubbly drinks Originally designed for a typical 6mm plastic straw, but could work with other sizes if scaled up or down. This is a prototype, and I wouldn't recommend making ice with this, as strands of filament may end up being embedded into the ice, potentially getting consumed as it melts. If you like the idea, please feel free to remix and create molds for making food-grade silicone ice trays — that should in theory produce ice suitable for human consumption.
