Hole Spire Tower
thingiverse
I created this tower specifically for the 2016 Outsider Art Fair, which dared designers to push the boundaries of architecture by imagining skyscrapers that could be 3D printed and displayed side by side. I call it the "Hole Spire." The challenge was clear: create a design that harmoniously merged the classic silhouette of a skyscraper with something entirely new and captivating. I envisioned two starkly contrasting profiles, one from each viewing angle, to truly shake things up. I crafted a tower where sleek curves meet straight lines by combining a swept-teardrop shape on one side with a sturdy rectangle on the other. To add even more excitement, I deliberately positioned a round opening directly through the rectangular face and an equilateral triangular opening through the teardrop surface. These unexpected openings offer unparalleled opportunities in construction: a breathtaking atrium with an arched ceiling could unfold from the triangular opening, while the circular passage invites you to craft rooms offering unmissable views and truly unique vistas.
