Hole Size Template 0.120" to 0.139"

This simple hole size test block allows for precise Imperial hole sizes between 0.120" and 0.139" in increments of 0.001". The actual printed hole sizes are typically slightly smaller than the original specifications. I created this test block to determine the optimal closure for a clock I am designing, enabling me to calculate the necessary upsizing for a loose or tight fit in shaft holes. This information is crucial for achieving accurate and reliable fits. Through experimentation, I discovered that increasing the hole size by 0.003" results in a reasonably tight press fit. Oversizing by 0.004" allows for manual insertion with some gentle pressure applied. A 0.005" oversize yields an accurate sliding fit, while larger sizes introduce increasingly significant amounts of slop. Steve
