Holder for electric toothbrush with two positions
thingiverse
My daughter adores her electric toothbrush, but there's a small snag with using it. When she puts it down to close the toothpaste tube after applying toothpaste, it won't lie upright, so the toothpaste often spills off. So I made her this simple holder that holds her Oral-B toothbrush in a horizontal position for applying toothpaste and also serves as a holder to give the toothbrush a home for space-saving storage when not in use. There's currently only one STL file, which is for this Oral-B, because we only have this one model in our household to take measurements from. If you send me photographs like the ones above of your toothbrush, taken from some distance to avoid spatial distortion, with 1 cm graph paper behind it, I'll publish more STLs here. Print Settings Printer: Prusa i3 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.1 Infill: 25% honeycomb How I Designed This I used my OpenSCAD library, pointsandfaces, which is currently under development and being documented at the same time, but it was sufficient to help me design this. And it will be published soon! Basically, this is the difference between a round box, found on Thingiverse as thing:2001656, and two instances of a cylinder that's shaped like the toothbrush in two positions. For the cylinder, I used the function cylinder_pnf_v() from pointsandfaces. The dimensions of the toothbrush were taken manually using photos, Corel Draw, and the keyboard to enter the coordinates of the points as shown on the photo. The .scad file will be published here once pointsandfaces is published. Before that, it doesn't make sense.
