Holder for Dog Leashes/Long Lines
prusaprinters

I train dogs for canine nose work and retriever field work, and have a collection of long lines and leashes of various length. For a while I have tried to find a way to organize them a bit better than just throwing them all in a bag -- and untangling them later. None of the designs I came up with worked too well. Then one day I was in the garage grabbing an extension cord and noticed the holder it was on. "Huh", I thought, "this might just work". So I fired up Fusion and a few hours later I had this design, which is derived from the extension cord holder but adds a couple of specific features.

Most of my lines have a knot at the end, which goes into the slotted end. Then I wrap the line around the main body of the holder and finally secure the clip in one of the many holes around the edges. With many holes, it should be easy to find one that works for the length of your line. For leashes with a handle, I just put it around one of the protruding "horns".

I made the leash holder in two sizes. The small one is about 8 x 4.25 in (20 x 11 cm) and is fine for lines shorter than 10 or 12 feet. The larger one is for longer lines and is about 9.25 x 4.25 in (23.5 x 11 cm).

If you like what I'm doing…

…consider buying me a coffee.

Print instructions

Resolution: 0.3

Infill: 20%

If you want to keep in a car or outside where temperatures can get high, use PETG or ABS/ASA.

Supports are only needed for the slotted ends. In PrusaSlicer or Cura I use support enforcers/custom supports in those areas.
