You can opt to purchase a replacement car key if the retaining bracket is damaged beyond repair, but that comes with a hefty price tag. Alternatively, you can create a custom holder for your key by printing one. I chose this route. The printed holder securely holds the key in place and requires some force to install it properly. If needed, you can gently pry out the key using a knife or screwdriver.
