Hold-down Clip (with offset)

A lightweight hold-down clip with a single recessed screw hole provides reliable support for thin items. It excels at holding a 2-3mm thick item firmly in place due to its innovative design, where the screw is offset from the support pad. This clever placement significantly boosts holding power compared to other designs. In my specific application, I use these clips to secure a piece of plate-glass within a precision sanding fixture. The glass sits slightly recessed and protrudes about 2.5mm above the plywood surface. By using four of these clips - two on each side - they exert pressure through a camming action to hold the glass firmly in place during use. The fixture itself features plate glass with strips of wet/dry sandpaper attached via spray glue, providing an exceptionally firm, flat, and smooth backing surface for precision graduated sanding.
