I really appreciated the Hold Down clamps by MasterKookus, but they didn't quite meet my requirements for some of my workpieces. I highly valued the Fusion360 file he provided and made significant modifications to strengthen the long leg and saddle, reducing the risk of cracking. I also reworked the void for the screw shaft and added a small gap to facilitate easier insertion of the cylinder into the clamp. Among all the clamps I've used, this design stands out as the best. I simply adjusted it to match the strength of my printed materials. MasterKookus deserves credit for his initial design. His parametric design made it straightforward for me to modify and improve upon it. This is precisely why we design in a modular way. I'm also attaching the Fusion 360 file with the full assembly and joints, following MasterKookus's example. In line with MasterKookus's approach, I've included shorter versions of the clamp (1.5" and 1" leg versions), which can be easily generated from the parameterized file in Fusion 360. Update: Since I was concerned about the strength of my part, I ran a stress simulation to identify potential vulnerabilities. It appears that I successfully addressed issues on the saddle and long leg. The short leg still shows some risk as indicated by the simulation, but I haven't experienced any problems with it yet. I tested the simulation with 50 lb of force applied to the cylinder, which is likely more than what I've seen in actual use. I might need to verify this with measurements. Note that the simulation accounts for deformation along the length, which is a characteristic of these plastics. A picture of the stress analysis is attached (I couldn't attach a video showing the progression).
