Hold Down Bar - Medium, low profile tip
thingiverse
With my Shapeoko 3, I wanted a lower version of these hold downs to avoid interfering with my dust collection shoe. This design addresses that issue. If there is interest, I'll attempt another remix incorporating short and long versions of the hold-down bar. EDIT: The original design had de-laminated after one year in use, so I re-designed it. This version uses less plastic and has a smaller profile with less risk of delamination. These printed parts flex slightly, which is perfect for my needs. To achieve adequate pressure, I position the part correctly, letting it flex until it is almost flat against the material. When needed, I fall back on using the original designs I derived this version from. How This Was Designed This was my first remix attempt, so there's no guarantee I did it right. I imported the original design into Fusion 360, cut out unnecessary parts, then exported as an STL file. However, when importing the .dwg file, it ended up 10x too large, so I had to scale it down. I then rotated the design for printing and saved it in STL format. The second design is nearly a complete rebuild in Fusion 360. The tapers match perfectly thanks to copied parts from the original designs. Hopefully, this one works as well for you. Maybe someday, images will be added.
