Nitan composite plates are a rare find, and one such example was unearthed at Building A in Group II at the ancient Mayan site of Holmul. The plate's deposition dates back to around 593 C.E., a time when the city was still thriving. As for its design, it features an intricate snail motif that represents the deity N (Itzam), also known as God N, who is revered in Mayan mythology as the supreme god of the sky and heavens, often depicted with a snake-like head.
