Hoist Gantry Crane
grabcad
The challenge was using leftover scrap metal, with only new purchases being bolts, nuts, washers, welding supplies, paint, and wheels. This Movable Gantry Crane Hoist is slated for fabrication in the coming months, after which a photo of the finished project will be uploaded. The wheels can move 360 degrees, and it has threaded leveling stability foot pads. The upper stability supports are located over the I-beam, allowing the Chain Hoist Trolley to slide closer to each side stanchion. A SolidWorks Assembly ZIP file with the raw starting metal is available for those interested in trying a similar design. A Trolley Wheel model from GrabCAD was used due to uncertainty about purchased wheels. An IGIS version of the Chain Hoist was uploaded, although it's not a working CAD model but only a visual representation for renderings. In 2015, a new Gantry Crane Hoist version was built, incorporating height adjustment while still utilizing yard-found scrap metal.
