Hoffman Kiln - Coventry
sketchfab
The Hoffman kiln was initially fired with coal before switching to oil and eventually gas firing. Bricks were manually placed in and removed from the kiln tunnels using hand labor. As a brick-built structure, it required ongoing repairs. The kiln underwent significant changes during its final years at Webster's Brick Yard, where it was replaced by three large steel box kilns with heavy insulation that could be easily loaded via forklift truck. The roof of this structure is heavily overgrown and not included in this model. Due to safety concerns, only general photographs were taken of the two firing tunnels. Conducting a thorough photogrammetric survey within these tunnels would necessitate the use of remotely operated motorized equipment. This model serves general purposes but cannot guarantee precise elevation relationships due to obscured areas caused by vegetation, waste materials, and other obstacles encountered during the survey process.
