Hoffman Kiln - Coventry

The Hoffman kiln was fired with coal, later this changed over to oil and then gas firing, bricks were all placed in and taken out of the kiln tunnels by hand. Because it was brick built it had to be continually repaired. In the latter years of Websters Brick Yard the Hoffman kiln was replaced by 3 steel heavily insulated box kilns which could be fed by forklift truck. The roof of the structure is heavily overgrown and is not included in this model. The two firing tunnels are in an unsafe condition, so only general photographs were taken, a full photogrammetric survey within the tunnels would require remotely operated motorised equipment. This model is for general purposes only, the accuracy elevation relationship cannot be guaranteed, due to obscured areas during the survey caused by vegetation, waste material etc.
