Hockey Goalie Mask

In honor of Canada's 150th birthday, Proto3000's team embarked on a creative project to celebrate this milestone. We leveraged hockey, Canada's most cherished sport, as inspiration for a 3D printed goalie mask using our in-house 3D printing capabilities. By doing so, we showcased the potential of prototyping within the sports industry. This prototype is designed solely for concept development and should not be used in real-world applications. The main helmet component was printed with the Fortus 450mc, which could also be printed on any FDM 3D printer. We then sanded and primed it to achieve a smooth surface for painting. Texture was added to the print using shrink wrap. After applying the right colors through spray painting, we wrapped Canada's cultural icons in vinyl around the surrounding areas of the helmet. To complete our main helmet, we manually painted a gold trim around the borders of the maple leaf. The cage was printed in red and white using the Stratasys J750 3D printer, which offers full-color capabilities. We also printed fasteners on the MakerBot Replicator Z18 in rapid fashion.
