The Natural Park of the River Duratón Gorges is located in northeastern Segovia, and includes the course of the River Duratón, from Sepúlveda to the Burgomillodo Dam. The park stretches for 25 kilometers where the river has carved out limestone rocks, squeezing itself between walls over 70 meters high. Beyond the landscape's interest and beauty lies its rich archaeological and historical wealth that this spectacular gorge contains within. The river's action has given rise to numerous caves such as Los Siete Altares and caves in which you can observe rock paintings like those of La Huelga, El Cabrón, La Molinilla or El Pájaro. Almost 500 pairs of Leonado Vultures nest on the rocky cliffs, accompanied by a good number of Alimoches, Royal Eagles, and Peregrine Falcons. Additionally, there are more historical values: the Romanesque hermitage of San Frutos, the ruins of the Convent of Our Lady of the Spring, or the town of Sepúlveda itself.
