I'm building an ultra-compact and lightweight fishing system designed specifically for navigating the Boundary Waters in northern Minnesota. Its primary function is to serve as a compact alternative to traditional folding or static rods and reels that are typically used in these waters. One of the biggest drawbacks to using standard rods is having to portage them, which can be a real hassle. Additionally, folding rods often take up too much space and weight in your pack when you're trying to travel light. This reel features an innovative hollow design with a secure-fitting cap that should hold all your necessary tackle for the trip within its compact frame.
