Hobbyist Portable Field Work Stand
thingiverse
As an enthusiastic hobbyist, one thing that I cherish are tools designed to perform multiple tasks with ease. I greatly appreciate tools that are self-contained, compact in design, and can be stored conveniently, making repairs on electronics and RC vehicles simple and efficient. This is especially crucial when repairs are made outdoors. Tools equipped with their own power source and features such as illumination and optical magnification are incredibly helpful. Outdoor repairs are challenging because options and parts are limited. Furthermore, controlling the environment where repairs take place, especially when dealing with small, intricate components, can be extremely difficult. That is why I have designed the Hobbyist’s portable field work station. The goal of the work station was to provide a controlled environment with logical storage for essential tools and power sources. The tool was designed to be compact, offer hobbyists control over intricate parts, and serve as an asset to the home workbench by providing ways to get it off the bench when not needed. The work station can be used as a cradle for working on larger models such as “O” scale trains, with an angled bed that allows support of the model while exposing the underside for repairs, freeing hands to perform the work. The soldering platform triangle insert offers a second use of the tool by providing a heat-protected flat surface for model soldering applications. Recommended accessories for this work station with provided attachment points include flexible helping hand arms, a USB light and magnifier on a flexible arm, a butane-powered soldering iron, a pocket pack tube of solder, and two small power banks. One power bank is to be used for the lighting, and the second is to be used for a small USB-powered fan. A small silicone heat-resistant pad should be attached to the flat surface of the soldering triangle.
