Hobbit Skull
thingiverse
Maybe Smaug's worst nightmare came true: Bilbo didn't quite reach the Lonely Mountain after all, but stumbled upon something much creepier while traveling through Mirkwood forest. A tiny skull was nestled in a spider's web, its bony structure eerily reminiscent of something sinister lurking just beneath the surface. Instructions: The Hobbit's Skull originated as a piece of art created from clay, then cast in ceramic using the slip casting method. I later captured a detailed digital model of the skull using a Makerbot 3D scanner. To refine the scan data, I utilized Meshmixer and exported it as an STL file, ready for printing. A Replicator 2 3D printer handled the task, laying down layers of white PLA plastic in a low-resolution build at about two hours' worth of steady print time.
