Hobbed Bolt and Direct Drive Cut Jig (Hobbit)
thingiverse
This jig cuts both hobbed bolts and drives for direct drive extruders with ease. The original inspiration was the little bolt hobbit, but it had too much flex to be effective. To get started, select the correct STL files based on the number of teeth you need and whether you're making a hobbed bolt or a direct drive - note that the hole size for hobbed bolts is 8mm while direct drives require a 5mm hole. When printing, be sure to use an office rubber band to keep the ratchet lever locked into gear teeth. You may also need to adjust the length of the bolt by adding washers between the gear and frame or between the ratchet and frame. With these tips in mind, you'll be well on your way to creating smooth, precise cuts with this versatile jig.
