HO Scale Track Spacer

HO Scale Track Spacer

Edit July 13th, 2016: Added a 2 1/2" version of the spacer to allow for proper NMRA spacing around turns. All other features remain unchanged. It's the small details that make 3D printing shine. This morning, I worked on my train layout after a months-long hiatus, and needed several track spacers for the mainline in the center. To meet the Free-Mo specifications, the tracks had to be exactly 2 inches apart. To achieve this, I took basic measurements and created this spacer on the spot. The spacer is designed to hold most brands of manufactured track (I tested it with Micro Engineering flex track, Atlas flex track, and Atlas snap track) at a 2 inch on center spacing. There's a hole in the center of the jig for temporarily securing the track with a screw while driving nails or letting glue set. I prefer using glue in my case. No recommendations are needed regarding print quality or speed. The edges are rounded to facilitate smoother printing, especially on my older PB LCv2 model. Happy modeling!
